The actress I highlight in this post is Carmen Miranda, a talented singer and dancer, born in Portugal, but raised and educated in Brazil since she was ten months old.
Her artistic career took place in Brazil and the United States, in Hollywood, between the 1930s and 1950s. With international fame, Carmen Miranda was nicknamed: “The Little Remarkable” and “Brazilian Bombshell”, but never won an Oscar.
Carmen Miranda was born Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, in Marco de Canaveses, Portugal, on February 9, 1909 and died at a young age, in Beverly Hills, California, United States, on August 5, 1955, aged 46.
The actress has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, at 6262 Hollywood Boulevard, in the film category.
Carmen Miranda was married to the American film producer, David Sebastian (1908-1990), from 1947 to 1955, with whom she lived until the day of her death.
Gracias por tu paso y muy buena tu entrada y la historia que nos presentas hoy. Besos. Excelente semana.
ReplyDeleteTheodosia,
ReplyDeleteI think that “Carmem Miranda” rarely appears in a photo without that costume with a turban full of fruits, which she wore in her films. Here in this photo that you present to us, she is super elegant.
“Carmem Miranda” is one of the prides of Brazil. She was really a great actress.
Kisses and good week!!!
