The name I bring to you in this post is that of the American actress and model Susan Hayward, winner of the Oscar for best actress in 1959 for her performance in the film “I Want to Live!” (1958), playing “Barbara Graham”, a waitress accused of murder.

In addition to the Oscar for Best Actress, Susan won 3 Golden Globes: Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, in 1953, for “With a Song in My Heart” (1952), playing “Jane Froman”, a radio singer who achieves fame; Special Golden Globe, in 1953, Henrietta Award; Best Actress in a Drama, in 1959, for “I Want to Live!” (1958).

The actress has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, located at 6251 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Motion Picture category.

Susan Hayward, born Edythe Marrenner on June 30, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York, United States, died young on March 14, 1975, in Beverly Hills, California, at the age of 57.

Susan Hayward was married to American actor Jess Barker (1912-2000) from 1944 to 1954, the year of their divorce. The couple had two twin sons: American teacher Timothy Marrenner Barker (1945-) and American Army intelligence officer and decorated Vietnam veteran Greg Barker (1945-), who became a filmmaker.
