Charlton Heston - ©Theda Bara

The name I present in this post is that of the excellent American actor Charlton Heston, famous for having a vast filmography and for having won, among them, the Oscar for Best Actor in 1960 for his performance in “Ben-Hur” (1959), in the role of the Jewish merchant “Judah Ben-Hur”, who, after a disagreement with the Roman Emperor, is condemned to live as a slave.

“Ben-Hur” was remaker in 2016, starring English actor Jack Huston Alexander (1982-). This version of the film was a box office failure.

Charlton Heston also won two Golden Globe Awards: the Henrietta Award in 1962 and the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1967.

The actor has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame at 1628 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Motion Picture category.

Charlton Heston, born John Charles Carter on October 4, 1923, in Evanston, Illinois, United States, passed away on April 5, 2008, in Beverly Hills, California, United States, at the age of 84.

Charlton Heston was married to American actress Lydia Marie Clarke Heston (1923-2018), who left her a widow. The couple lived together for 64 years, from 1944 to 2008, and had two children: film director and screenwriter Fraser Clarke Heston (1966-) and educator Holly Ann Heston (1961-).
