Theodosia, I'm sure the free bird must also be sad to see his friend unable to flap his wings to fly, trapped between bars. His Haiku became perfect, based on human cruelty in trapping birds in the Cage. The illustration with the bird's cut wings portrays this cruelty well. Kisses!!!
Very true and so interesting..yet there are some birds who want to be in the cage, too. ..possibly not birds, but I have seen one too many dogs who can only sleep in their kennels at night.
