Arnold Schwarzenegger - ©Theda Bara

The name I bring to you in this post is that of the Austrian-American actor, bodybuilder, businessman and politician, affiliated with the Republican Party, who was the 38th Governor of the state of California from 2004 to 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The actor loves war movies so much that he even has the word war in his name: Schwarzenegger. He gained international fame, becoming an icon of Hollywood action films, notable for his leading roles in films such as “Conan the Barbarian” (1982) and “Conan the Destroyer” (1984) and in the British-American film series: “The Terminator” (1984 - 1991 and 2003) in both films he played the protagonist. In the film “Terminator Salvation”, in 2009, Arnold Schwarzenegger did not participate. “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, a film by Canadian filmmaker, producer, screenwriter and editor James Francis Cameron (1954-) and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, caused such an impact that year that it won four Oscars but unfortunately not the Best Actor award.

Schwarzenegger’s greatest awards were not in cinema, but in bodybuilding, with 7 Mr. Universe titles, the first at age 21: 1970, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1980. In cinema, he never won an Oscar, but he won two important awards: a Golden Globe in 1977, for: “Stay Hungry” (1976), Best Debut in a Motion Picture, male category; and an MTV Movie Award in 1992, for: “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991), Best Male Performance.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has his star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Motion Picture category.

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947, in Thal, Austria, and is now 77 years old.

In Hyannis, Massachusetts, on April 26, 1986, Schwarzenegger married television journalist Maria Owings Shriver (1955–), niece of former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy – JFK (1917– assassinated 1963, on Dallas, Texas). The Reverend John Baptist Riordan (1946–2023) performed the ceremony at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Together, Arnold and Maria had four children: Katherine Eunice Shriver Schwarzenegger (1989–); Christina Maria Aurelia Schwarzenegger (1991–); Patrick Arnold Schwarzenegger (1993–) and Christopher Sargent Shriver Schwarzenegger (1997–). Schwarzenegger and Shriver divorced on May 9, 2011. The reason for divorce: a scandal widely published by the press, then Arnold was forced to confess to his wife that he had an extramarital affair with his former housekeeper, Mildred Patricia Baena (1961-), and that together they had a son, Joseph Baena Schwarzenegger, born October 2, 1997, in Los Angeles. After finding out about the pregnancy, the actor fired the housekeeper, trying to move away from the controversial relationship, but she did not accept the end of the relationship. Arnold did not abandon the son who was born, paid alimony and visited him, but his now ex-wife did not accept the child in his home. After his term as governor, he publicly recognized his son, including his name on the boy's birth certificate. Currently Joseph Baena Schwarzenegger gets along with all his half-brothers.
