The name I bring to you in this post is that of the award-winning Italian actress Sophia Loren, winner of two Oscars. The first for best actress in 1962 for her performance in the film “La Ciociara” (1961), playing “Cesira”, mother of “Rosetta” - actress: Eleonora Brown (1948-), who flees Rome, Italy, during World War II. During the trip, the two are raped by soldiers inside a church and “Cesira” suffers a breakdown. In her hometown, a gentleman falls in love with her; and the second, an honorary Oscar in 1991.

Sophia Loren entered the music industry, but her career did not take off.

In addition to the two Oscars for Best Actress, Sophia Loren also won 4 Golden Globe Awards: Henrietta Award 1965, 1969 and 1977 and Cecil B. DeMille 1995; 1 Grammy Award: Best Spoken Word Album for Children and 1 BAFTA Film Award: Best Foreign Actress 1962, for Two Women.

Sophia Loren has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, located at 2000 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Motion Picture category.

Sophia Loren, born Sofia Villani Scicolone on September 20, 1934 in Rome, Italy, is now 90 years old.

Sophia Loren was married only once, to the Italian lawyer and film producer Carlo Ponti (1912-2007). The couple had three children: the Italian businessman Alex Ponti (1953-2022); the Italian choirmaster Carlo Ponti Jr. (1968-) and the Italian film director, the youngest Edoardo Ponti (1973-).
