Jennifer Jones - ©Theda Bara

The name I bring in this post is that of the American actress Jennifer Jones, who won the Oscar for best actress in 1944, for her performance in the film: “The Song of Bernadette” (1943), playing the biographical role of “Marie-Bernard Soubirous”, who is a young peasant woman living in France. When she tells her neighbors that she saw a beautiful lady dressed in a blue and white robe coming home, everyone assumes she is the Virgin Mary. Bernadette is considered crazy by some and holy by others. The actress won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Dramatic Film, in 1944 in the same film.

The actress has her star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, at 6429 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Cinema category.

Born Phylis Lee Isley on March 2, 1919, Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States, she died on December 17, 2009, United States, at age 90.

Jennifer Jones has been married three times. Her first marriage was to the American actor Robert Hudson Walker (1918-1951) from 1939 to 1945. The couple had one son, fellow actor Robert Hudson Walker Jr; her second marriage was to American film producer David Oliver Selznick (1902-1965) from 1949 to 1965, of which the actress was widowed at the age of 46. The couple had two children: TV series actor Michael Andrew Walker (1941-2007) and troubled young Mary Jennifer Selznick (1954-1976), who committed suicide by jumping from a window on the 20th floor of the building she lived in, in 11 May 1976.; her last marriage was to the American industrialist and philanthropist, one of the richest men in America, Norton Winfred Simon (1907-1993) from 1971 to 1993, from whom the actress also became a widow inheriting her last husband's immense fortune.

    Saludos.
