The name I bring in this post is Claudette Colbert, French actress naturalized American, who won the Oscar for best actress in 1935, for her performance in the film: “It Happened One Night” (1934), playing the role of “Ellie Andrews”, daughter of a millionaire, who runs away from home when her father does not allow her to marry her suitor, the journalist “Peter Warne”, played by Clark Gable (1901-1960).

Claudette Colbert was born on September 13, 1903, in Saint-Mandé, France, and died on July 30, 1996, in Speightstown, on the Caribbean island of Barbados, aged 92.

The actress was married to American film director Norman Foster (1903-1976) from 1928 to 1935, with whom she had two children: Gretchen Foster (1936-) and Robert Foster (1941-2019). She married surgeon Joel J. Pressman (1901-1968) in the same year of the separation from 1935 to 1968, however, she continued to have a relationship with her first husband, having children after the separation.
