The actor I highlight in this post is more than an actor, he is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) ventriloquist in the world. His name is Edgar Bergen, who was also an excellent announcer, keeping a popular radio show on the air for many years.
Bergen had a comic streak, which he lent to his three puppets: “Effie Klinder”, “Charlie McCarthy” and “Mortimer Snerd”.
Edgar Bergen has three stars on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, all on Hollywood Boulevard: at 6425, TV category; in 6766, Cinema category and in 6801, Radio category.
The actor was born on February 16, 1903, in Chicago, Illinois, United States and died on September 30, 1978, at the Caesars Palace Hotel, in Las Vegas Valley, Nevada, Los Angeles, California, United States. Edgar Bergen was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, aged 75, next to his doll “Charlie McCarthy” (the most elegant and popular).
Edgar Bergen was married to the American actress and model Frances Bergen (1922-2006), for 33 years, from 1945 to 1978, with whom he had two daughters: actresses Candice Patricia Bergen (1946-) and Kris Bergen (1961-). The couple Edgar and Frances are grandparents of only one granddaughter, the American publisher Chloe Malle (1985-), daughter of Candice Bergen and French filmmaker Louis Malle (1932-1995), to whom she was married for 15 years, from 1980 to 1995 , until she became a widow.
Hello, Theodosia! I like Edgar Bergen's puppets.
ReplyDeleteNo lo conocía. Te mando un beso.

ReplyDeleteNo recuerdo haber visto ninguna actuación de este ventrílocuo. De su nieta puedo decir que me sorprende no siga los genes familiares con la escena.
