Bing Crosby - ©Theda Bara

The name I bring to you in this post is that of the American actor, singer, radio host, comedian and entertainer Bing Crosby.

With more than half a century of career, Bing Crosby received several awards, including an Oscar for best actor in 1945, for his performance in the film: “Going My Way” (1944) playing the role of the priest “Chuck O’Malley”. He later won two more major lifetime achievement awards: the Golden Globe in 1960 and the Grammy in 1962.

Bing Crosby was passionate about art, travel, dogs and pipes.

The actor is one of the record holders for stars on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, with three of them: at 1611 Vine Street, Cinema category; at 6769 Hollywood Boulevard, Radio category and at 6751 Hollywood Boulevard, Music category.

Born Harry Lillis Crosby, May 3, 1903, Tacoma, Washington, United States, died October 14, 1977, Golf La Moraleja, Alcobendas, Spain, aged 74.

Bing Crosby was married 2 times. His first marriage was to the beautiful American actress, dancer and singer Dixie Lee (1909-1952) from 1930 to 1952, of whom Crosby was eventually widowed. The couple had 4 children, all American actors and singers: Gary Evan Crosby (1933-1995); the twin brothers born on (July 13, 1934) Dennis Michael Crosby (1934-1991) and Phillip Lang Crosby (1934-2004) and Lindsay Harry Crosby (1938-1989). His second marriage was to American actress and singer Kathryn Grant - Kathryn Crosby (1933-) from 1957 to 1977, widow of Bing Crosby. The couple had 3 children: American investment banker Harry Lillis Crosby III, better known as Harry Crosby (1958-); American actress Mary Frances Crosby (1959-) and American professional golfer Nathaniel Patrick Crosby (1961-).
