Ray Milland - ©Theda Bara

The name I bring to you in this post is Ray Milland, a British director, film and television actor, born in Wales and naturalized American citizen. Milland won the Oscar for best actor in 1946 for his performance in the film: “The Lost Weekend” (1945), playing the role of the alcoholic writer “Don Birnam”. “The Lost Weekend” also won the statuette for Best Film and earned the actor a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama.

The actor, who was known for being vain and taking special care of his hair in his youth, made his last films in Hollywood completely bald.

Ray has two stars on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, on Vine Street: 1621, in the motion picture category and 1634, in the TV category.

Ray Milland, born Reginald Alfred Truscott-Jones on January 3, 1907, in Neath, United Kingdom, died on March 10, 1986, at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Torrance, California, United States, at the age of 79.

Ray Milland was married to housewife and fan Muriel Frances Weber (1908–1992) from 1932 to 1986. The couple had two children, and I will begin by introducing the couple's youngest daughter, American actress Victoria Milland, known as Michael Aspel (1955–) who followed in her father’s artistic footsteps. Their eldest son, Dan Milland, was born on March 6, 1940 in Los Angeles, California, United States, and on the evening of Tuesday, March 24, 1981, he was found dead in his duplex apartment in West Los Angeles, California, United States. The police forensic report concluded that it was suicide by shotgun blast to the head, although Dan had spent that night with two women, where they drank, took drugs, and had sex. After his sons death, Ray Milland was never the same, dying five years after Dan’s suicide.
