Ginger Rogers - ©Theda Bara

The actress I bring in this post was also an excellent dancer and singer, her name is Ginger Rogers, an American who during the 1940s was one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood, having acted in 14 films throughout her successful film career.

The height of her fame occurred in 1941, when she won the Oscar for best actress, for her performance in the film: “Kitty Foyle” (1940), playing the protagonist “Kitty Foyle”. The actress also won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical in 1955, in one of her many partnerships with actor and dancer Fred Astaire (1889-1987).

Ginger Rogers has her star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, at Hollywood Boulevard: 6772, Cinema category.

Ginger Rogers, born Virginia Katherine McMath, July 16, 1911, Independence, Missouri, United States, died April 25, 1995, Rancho Mirage, California, United States, of a stroke, aged 83.

The actress was married five times. Her first marriage lasted just two years, to American vaudeville dancer, singer, comedian, and musician Jack Pepper (1902-1979) from 1929 to 1931; the second marriage was longer, lasting 6 years, with the American actor Lew Ayres (1908-1996) from 1934 to 1940; the third marriage also lasted 6 years, with another American actor John Calvin Briggs (1920-1998) from 1943 to 1949; the fourth marriage lasted 4 years, with a French actor who later became an executive at the cosmetics brand Revlon, Jacques Bergerac (1927-2014) and finally, the fifth and last marriage, with another singer, actor, director and American film producer Gerard William Marshall (1917-1994) from 1961 to 1969.
