The actor I present in this post is Richard Gere, he is known for the films: “American Gigolo” (1980), character: the gigolo “Julian Kaye”; “Pretty Woman” (1990), character: the millionaire “Edward Lewis”, alongside Julia Roberts (1967-), who brilliantly played the call girl: “Vivian Ward”; “Chicago” (2002), character: the lawyer “Billy Flynn”; “Shall We Dance?” (2004), character: another lawyer “John Clark” and “Hachiko: A Dog´s Story”, biographical character: professor “Parker Wilson” (2009).

Richard Gere, even though he is considered a good actor, is far from the awards, having been nominated for four Golden Globes throughout his career, winning only one of them, for “Chicago” (2002) and never having even been nominated for an Oscar. Another peculiar fact about the actor is that he does not have a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame.

Richard Gere published the book: “Pilgrim” 1997, with 96 pages containing 64 photographs about his travels through India, Nepal, Zanskar and Tibet.

The son of Methodist farmer-turned-insurance salesman Homer George Gere (1922-2023) and housewife Doris Ann Tiffany (1924-2016), Richard Gere grew up with financial difficulties alongside five siblings: Henry Januszewski (1940-2019 ), Joanne Gere (1946-1999), David Gere (1957-), Susan Gere (1959-), and Laura Gere (1960-), on a farm near Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, United States. Gere never imagined being an actor as a teenager, let alone a sex symbol in Hollywood.

Richard Tiffany Gere was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, on August 31, 1949.

Richard Gere is on his third marriage. The actor's first wife was model and actress Cynthia Ann Crawford, better known as Cindy Crawford (1966-), from 1991 to 1995. The couple separated amid great controversy; his second wife was the American actress Carey Lowell (1961-), from 2002 to 2016, with whom he has his only son, Homer James Jigme Gere (2000-) and since 2018 he has been married to the Spanish publicist and political activist Alejandra María Silva García-Baquero (1983-).
