This name that I present is that of a pioneer actor in western-style films and the second winner of the Oscar for Best Actor in the history of Hollywood. I'm talking about Warner Baxter, who won the Oscar in 1930, for his performance in the film: “In Old Arizona”, from 1929, in the role of “Cowboy Cisco Kid”.
The actor has a star on the Los Angeles Walk of Fame, at 6284 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Cinema category.
Warner Baxter, born Warner Leroy Baxter, in Columbus, Ohio, United States, on March 29, 1889, died young, aged 62, in Beverly Hills, California, United States, on May 7, 1951.
Baxter was married twice, the first in a short marital relationship to: Viola V. Caldwell (1890-1939), from 1911 to 1913; and the second and last marriage was to the American theater and silent film actress: Winifred Bryson ( 1892 -1987), from 1918 to 1951, until the date of his death.

ReplyDeleteTheodosia, thank you for the interesting information.
ReplyDelete1930 ganó un Oscar, eso es cuando el mar Muerto todavía estaba enfermo. ¡Lo que sabes!. Un abrazo
ReplyDeleteQué recuerdos, he visto películas suyas junto a mi padre. Besos :D
ReplyDeleteNo recuerdo haber oído hablar de este actor así como de la película en que gano el Oscar. Por la fecha creo sería muda.
ReplyDeleteSaludos.
“Cisco Kid” is one of the greatest successes of comics published in the years (1907), having become a movie, as well as “Superman, Zorro, Flash Gordon” and many other heroes, each in their own style of narrative.
ReplyDeleteTelling stories is keeping them alive. And I appreciate the way you do this here on your “blog” Theodosia.
Kisses!!!
